Level One Coaching Success

It all started over 8 weeks ago when 7 young coaches and Sean Gallagher from Navan AC took on the challenge to complete Level ONE athletics coaching course along with coaches from Ratoath, Trim and Father Murphys just to name a few

The instructors or professionals were led by Paul McKee with his team of Shane Aston and our own Ciaran Conlon.

Week one and week two were all group Zoom Courses and the Navan crew were shy apart from Alan who would not shut up on week one but he wanted to let everyone know that NAVAN AC were there and they knew their stuff. By week two the other 7 found their voices and the ideas and information was flowing. The other clubs were sooooo impressed.

Soon it was saturday where all the information and training was put into practice as we all met on a sunny Saturday morning on the amazing sky blue track in Claremount. This was the time for the Navan AC coaches to shine.

From new warm up drills to Long jump skills, sprints and shotputt, the Navan AC coaches who were led by the father figure of Sean Gallagher meant business.

The day went smoothly and it was great to mix with other club coaches and receive new ideas.

The afternoon was a bit more competitive but the Navan AC crew were naturals at throwing Turbo Javelin along with the real Javeline, but unfortunatley Arleen could not get her Javeline to stick in the ground. Pamela Ciara and Debbie led by example and the throws were close to amazing while Alan, David and Sean could only watch on in awe.

Our second and final day was a full day Indoor Training in Cushinstown. Unfortunatly Sean could not make this as he was getting a manacure ha ha.( Poor sean was hit with the pandemic bug)

This was where Melissa stole the show with Professional walking skills as she took the floor like a woman on a mission.

The day went great and with High jump, Discus and hurdles skills learned by all the NAVAN CREW were amazing.

I for one am delighted to have completed the Level ONE course with a great bunch of coaches and amazing people. David, Sean, Arlene, Ciara, Pamela, Debbie and Melissa all under the guidance of oue own Ciaran Conlon

The future looks great for Navan AC and thats down to the hard work and dedication from all the Volunteer Coaches for giving up their own time to do what they do.
